Match Report 29 September 2007 Combe Down 2nds v Avonvale 1st XV - Away Walk Over Avonvale were disappointed not to have the opportunity to test their new found form against local rivals Combe Down as the players and referee discovered less than an hour prior to kick off that the home side were unable to raise a side. The match had been scheduled to take place at the Sulis Club as Combe Down had a first team fixture at their own ground so the Vale players arrived early and took the opportunity to warm-up gradually, ensuring they were prepared for the challenge ahead. Unfortunately it was not to be and players and spectators alike, along with referee Carl Bennett were disappointed to discover that Combe Down were unable to raise enough players to field even half a team. Instead the Vale turned their warm-up into a full training session and hope to be ready for the top of the table clash against Frome 3rds next week. |
